We stayed up all night to finnish building and putting our system for Greensgrow together. We installed at Greensgrow in the pouring rain and did not get to finnish the plumbing.
We are Jesse Gerard, Thomas Reynolds, and Jackie Starker from The University of The Arts Junior class. As a part of the UArts FarmPhilly initiative our goal is to utilize aquaponics to grow food in an urban setting. Given Greensgrow’s current involvement in hyrdroponics and aquaculture, an opportunity for design exists in an aquaponics system. This design affordance allows for the integration of a repeatable and scalable system that gets food to people, educates and raises awareness.

We contacted a company called Pond Armor and explained our project to them and they donated their product Pond Shield which is an epoxy paint to coat our tanks with.
These are some drawings of the components for the system we designed for Greensgrow. It’s a scalable system that can be adapted to any site with just these main components or similar pieces.
